Animal Husbandry
Due to the seasonal nature of the main employment options, an age-old way of gaining a supplementary income is through the ownership of livestock. However, with limited funds it is difficult for many to do this and if funds are available they are usually only enough to purchase poor quality livestock.
SCAD provides livestock to suitable and committed families with the agreement that they will provide additional animals with the income generated by the first.
In these poor areas access to veterinary support is limited. We organise animal husbandry camps where livestock owners can access artificial insemination and up gradation of genes, veterinary support and also learn about animal husbandry practices.
We also work to introduce dry land agricultural practices, which will increase fodder.
